Ganquan railway in North China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region officially commenced construction Mar 28, the People’s Daily reported.
With a total length of 341.86km, the railway starts from the south station of Wanshuiquan, Baotou and reaches Ganqimaodu border crossing. It is expected to commence operation in May 2012, according to the report.
Ganquan railway is designed as a Grade Ⅰelectrified single line, with initial capacity of 25 million tonnes and future capacity over 60 million tonnes each year.
